Take Control and Reduce Exposure to Environmental Hazards

The reason why most households have been using HEPA filters (high-efficiency particulate air) is because chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or commonly known as asthma has been known to be the fourth leading cause of death in the country. Did you know that there are already 125,000 lives that have been lost because of this killer disease?

Asthma Inhaler

There are only two major causes that trigger COPD or asthma. Environmental hazards can cause asthma to worsen and to attack. Indoor air filters may be able to take control of cleaning the air so it would be safe for breathing, however, it wouldn’t be able to help when we do not take our part to control the air we breathe. Keep in mind that exposure to air pollution can trigger asthma and other health problems. This article will provide some tips in keeping the air clean, safe and most of all free from harmful pollutants.

Before anything else, the moment you suspect an episode of asthma to occur, immediately consult a doctor and follow on the management plan provided by the health provider in order to take some preventive measures and reduction of harmful contaminants in air. Remember, you need to prevent the asthma from attacking. To be able to do so, you need to control and reduce the frequency of the symptoms of asthma to keep you and your household breather easier.
  • Avoid Smoking
Although a good quality air filter system may be able to get rid of the tobacco smoke inside the house or in the office, if smoking should not be put to an end, you and your household will still be exposed to this environmental hazard. Therefore, if it is possible avoid smoking else, smokers can keep away from children and even to those who have a weak immune system where asthma can easily attack.
  • Avoid smoke from wood-burning stoves
Portable air cleaners have efficient filters that even the smoke from wood-burning stoves will be filtered. Smoke will always be one of those asthma triggers. As you avoid this type of smoke, you should be able to reduce the environmental hazards.
  • Reduce mold, dust mites and other asthma-causing triggers at home
Remember, the key to reduce mold at home is to keep everything dry. Perhaps, there are leaks on pipes and other causes of moisture or damp, it is necessary to fix these immediately. Otherwise, mold will reproduce as there is the presence of moisture or water.
  • Keep pets away from sleeping areas
Even though HEPA air purifiers are able to get rid of pet-related allergens, it would still be best if you keep your pets away from sleeping areas. Reduce being exposed to the contaminants that can cause indoor air to become unsafe for breathing.

In conclusion, you may be able to check on the air quality and see to it if whether or not it has improved since these days, the quality of both indoor and outdoor air is poor that it requires for you to take action. Thereby, you and your family will no longer be prone to asthma and other health problems.
